Guy Gansert, who appeared on season 1 of ‘The Golden Bachelorette,’ will make his acting debut on ‘General Hospital.’
Late last year, The Golden Bachelorette fans watched as Joan Vassos picked Chock Chapple over Guy Gansert. Gansert, an ER doctor, was, understandably devastated. While The Golden Bachelorette didn’t end with him finding a new love, it may have helped him find a new career. At the very least, the newly retired doctor is getting to enjoy brand-new experiences. He is about to log his very first acting credit at age 66. He is set to appear in General Hospital.

Guy Gansert spent decades working as an emergency room doctor. Now that he has officially retired, he is eyeing another career. Gansert will take on a small guest role in General Hospital. According to People, Gansert will portray a wildlife journalist named Geoffrey. He will appear in the March 12 episode, but it’s unclear if his character will return for more.
Gansert said he landed the role after he mentioned, in passing, that he’d love to be on General Hospital because he used to watch the series in college. Gansert told People he was mostly joking when he mentioned the series, but ABC producers helped make it happen. Could the General Hospital guest spot signal that the network is going all in on Gansert, though?
Could he be the next golden bachelor?
ABC has not announced who will lead season 2 of The Golden Bachelor. While the network could go with any number of contestants from Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette, Guy Gansert feels like the front-runner. After all, he was Joan’s second choice and endeared himself to fans. He’s handsome, highly educated, and seems to have an emotional depth that would likely keep viewers engaged. Still, there is a problem.
While fans of the series largely adore Gansert, ABC might have some reasons to avoid him as a potential lead. During his time on The Golden Bachelorette, it was revealed that Gansert’s ex-wife had sought a restraining order against him following an incident outside of her gym. She later dropped the request. While Gansert was reportedly honest with casting agents and addressed the situation after it became public, ABC might be reluctant to make him the face of the franchise. There might have been too many issues in recent history to allow the network to take a risk with its lead.
