Hailee Steinfeld shared that she has ‘so much pride’ in her Filipino heritage as she graced her first-ever Vogue cover this month.

Her grandfather and her mother’s side, who was half black and half Filipino, hailed from the island of Panglao in the Philippines. 

Now the 28-year-old actress – who is engaged to the dashing NFL quarterback Josh Allen – has fronted the latest issue of Vogue Philippines.

The True Grit Oscar nominee shared that the magazine cover was especially thrilling because it served as a link to her ancestry, and to her fans in the country.

‘I carry my Filipino heritage with so much pride. And I feel like [it’s] deeply rooted in the values that my parents have instilled in both my brother and I: resilience and kindness and a deep sense of family,’ she told Vogue Philippines. 

She shared that she delved further into her own life and lineage while making her upcoming horror movie Sinners, helmed by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Now the 28-year-old actress – who is engaged to the dashing NFL quarterback Josh Allen – has fronted the latest issue of Vogue Philippines

Hailee plays a vampire in the femme fatale mode in Sinners, which also stars Michael B. Jordan and is set in the segregated American South in the 1930s.

‘I find that with what I do, there’s always something to learn about yourself,’ Hailee said in her new interview while discussing the film.

‘But when you get to learn about yourself and your family, that’s something that can be really special,’ added the Pitch Perfect 2 star.

Although she did not spill any further details that might spoil the movie, she assured the magazine: ‘This will make sense when you see it.’

Hailee was photographed by Greg Swales for the glamorous Vogue cover, which saw her decked out in a LOEWE mother-of-pearl minidress by Jonathan Anderson.

Inside the magazine, elder her brother Griffin – a race car driver and stunt performer – shed some light on Hailee’s family life.

‘She’s my best friend. I love watching her grow her skill set and experience new worlds,’ he said, referring to her varied career as an actress and a singer, as well as the head of an online newsletter called Beau Society.

‘None of these different “worlds” of entertainment are really the same, however she has mastered blending all of them together to create something that very, very few can do,’ Griffin, 31, said proudly of his little sister.

After locking lips with his bride to be, he took the stage and delivered a speech in which he spoke glowingly about Hailee, leaving her visibly emotional in the audience.

‘You’ve been my rock. You are my best friend,’ said Josh, the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. ‘I would not be standing on this stage if it weren’t for you.’
