Throughout 2025, Hailey Bieber has been on a journey of hairstyling experimentation, showcasing a range of looks from sleek long layers to effortless waves. As the year concludes, she has subtly revealed a new haircut this December. She swapped her lengthier tresses for a chic bob that grazes her collarbone, capturing the essence of ’90s supermodel elegance while embracing the contemporary “lob” trend. This transformation not only represents a significant change in Bieber’s personal style but also places her at the cutting edge of what many hairstylists predict will be a major trend as 2026 approaches. Salon experts suggest that Bieber’s cut could signal the fading popularity of the undone beach waves.

Hailey Bieber’s trendsetting new haircut marks the end of beach waves, according to a salon owner

In December 2025, Hailey Bieber caught both fans and fashionistas off-guard by debuting a fresh, shoulder-length bob, crafted by renowned hairstylist Justine Marjan, just in time for the new year. Marjan’s interpretation of the style features a textured “lob,” complete with soft layers that frame the face, offering a subtle nod to the glamour of the ’90s while maintaining a modern and effortless vibe.

The stylist took to Instagram to share an image of Bieber’s updated look, providing guidance for fans eager to replicate it. “To request this style from your stylist: ask for a collarbone-grazing blunt cut with gentle face framing and point cutting at the front,” Marjan advised.

This haircut signifies a shift from the longer, sleek hairstyles Bieber favored for much of 2025. It underscores her role as a fashion influencer and reflects a broader trend toward shorter, more adaptable hairstyles anticipated to be prominent in 2026.

Beauty expert Annabelle Taurua engaged in a conversation with Max Nicholson, owner of Regents of Beverley, through Fresha partner, to delve into the sophistication of Bieber’s new look.

Fresha beauty expert Annabelle Taurua spoke with Fresha partner and Regents of Beverley owner Max Nicholson to discuss Bieber’s polished look.

“Hailey’s chop feels like the final nail in the coffin for the undone beach wave,” Nicholson noted. “We’re officially moving back to volume and polish.”

“Salons are seeing a rise in requests for the Power Bob, a rounded, bouncy shape that feels intentional rather than messy, alongside the return of the Supermodel Blowout, with layered movement reminiscent of 90s icons like Cindy Crawford,” the salon owner continued.

Salon owner Max Nicholson said this current hair trend mirrors the oversized tailoring fashion trend of 2025

In 2025 fashion, oversized tailoring became one of the year’s most defining style movements. Across runways and street style alike, boxy blazers with relaxed shoulders and wide-leg trousers dominated collections. Designers and fashion editors noted that these roomy silhouettes, whether as power suiting or casual separates, signaled a shift from rigid, form-fitting cuts to more fluid shapes.

Salon owner Max Nicholson commented on how Hailey Bieber’s fresh haircut mirrors this fashion trend.

“The ’90s aesthetic is about hair that moves, shines, and looks like you actually own a hairbrush,” Nicholson said. “It’s polished, powerful, and undeniably done.”

“The shift also mirrors fashion’s current love affair with oversized tailoring,” he continued. “Big clothes need big hair to balance the look; flat, beachy texture just doesn’t hold up anymore.”

Hailey Bieber has had shorter bobs in the past

In early 2023, Hailey Bieber made headlines with a bold hair transformation when she debuted a chic chin-length bob, marking one of the most talked-about hairstyle moments of her year. She first revealed the cut on social platforms with a casual mirror selfie and a playful “oops” caption, according to Allure.

Bieber’s decision to go short in 2023 also contributed to a broader hair trend, with the bob experiencing renewed popularity among influencers and celebrities who favored low-maintenance cuts, offering versatility and polish. By embracing a blunt, chin-length silhouette, Bieber both tapped into a classic beauty archetype and helped reinforce the bob’s place as a modern “it” haircut for the year.

So, is Bieber about to set a major 2026 trend with her slightly longer bob now? We’ll have to wait and see.
