Halle Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel in the 2023 Little Mermaid remake was a major success, both critically and commercially. The film garnered worldwide attention and became a box office hit.

However, there’s one little fan of hers who might be the most excited about her role—her son, Halo.

In a sweet Tik Tok video posted on March 5, 2025, Halle shared a touching moment when Halo recognized her as Ariel from the Disney live-action adaptation.

In the clip, Halo is seen playing with a toy stethoscope while The Little Mermaid is playing on TV in the background.

As he turns toward the screen and spots his mom, he excitedly exclaims, “Momma,” eliciting laughter from Bailey.

She captioned the video, “Guys i’m crying he actually knows ariel is me.”

Halo, who was born on December 22, 2023, just a few months after the release of The Little Mermaid, has quickly become the center of Bailey’s world.

The proud mom announced his birth in January 2024 with a post on Instagram, writing, “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my Halo. The world is desperate to know you.”

Motherhood has brought Bailey immense joy and fulfillment. In a recent Snapchat Q&A, she responded to a question about whether she ever feels lonely living on her own, especially since she no longer lives with her Halo’s father, DDG.

“Honestly [Halo] is with me majority of the week so i don’t feel alone. When i do have a day off it’s prob a day or two and then he’s with me again so it feels like we have our own peaceful oasis together,” she shared.

While it’s not always easy to juggle a career in the spotlight with being a mom, Bailey makes it work. The 24-year-old star revealed that her son comes with her to set and to the studio when she’s working.

“Sometimes is juggling both, but Gods helping me. Halo comes with me to every studio, and every set with me when i have to work and he’s so good.”

Motherhood has not only changed Halle’s life but also helped her grow in unexpected ways.

She shared, “Being a mom has taught me to love myself more and to stand up for myself crazy. How having a child can make you understand how special you actually are and how much you’re worth.”
