What more surprises will the pond bring? The season 3 finale of Hallmark Channel’s time-traveling drama The Way Home left us with a ton of questions about what’s really going on with the Landry family. Fortunately, answers are coming. Hallmark has renewed the show – which stars Chyler Leigh, Andie MacDowell, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow – for a fourth season.

‘The Way Home’ renewed for season 4
The Way Home Season 3 finale might have left viewers hanging – was that baby really who we think it is? – but Hallmark isn’t keeping fans of the show in suspense about its future. The network confirmed that a fourth season is in the works ahead of the show’s March 7 episode.
“We could not be more excited to bring you more romance, family drama, mystery, and of course, time travel,” MacDowell – who plays matriarch Del Landry – said in a video Hallmark shared on Instagram on March 6. “See you all in 2026.”
Del time travels and Elliot discovers something about his past in ‘The Way Home’ Season 3 finale
The Way Home renewal news came just ahead of a finale jam-packed with twists and revelations for Del, Kat (Leigh), Alice (Laflamme-Snow), and the rest of the show’s characters.
“If You Could Read My Mind” featured Del’s first trip through time, with the pond taking her and Kat back to Del and Colton’s wedding day. Meanwhile, Alice enjoyed a special moment with an older Colton (Jefferson Brown), who realized Alice was his granddaughter. But that touching scene came with a more bittersweet realization, as Colton learned that although Jacob was alive, he would not live to see his son again.
The finale also threw cold water on the theory that the mysterious Casey (Vaughn Murrae) is Alice’s daughter from the future. When confronted, Casey flat-out denied being Alice’s child, which clears up one mystery while introducing another. If she’s not Alice’s daughter, then who is she, and when is she from? There were also strong hints that Sam Bishop (Rob Stewart) is more than just Del’s love interest. When Jacob vanishes toward the end of the episode, he reassures a panicked Del that everyone will be OK.
“How do you know that, Sam?” Del asks as they speak on the phone.
“I just do,” he says, as he stands by the pond’s edge.
Another shocker? Clues in a letter from Elliot’s (Evan Williams) absent mom indicate she was a time-traveler as well. Alice may have even met her on one of her visits to 1974. The episode’s final scene is a call-back to the season premiere, when we saw a young couple leave a baby on the shore before leaping into the pond. In the finale, an unseen person then deposits the baby, along with the letter from Elliot’s mother, on Del and Colton’s porch. Assuming that’s baby Elliot in the basket, what could that mean for his story? Is he even an Augustine? And what does this revelation mean for Kat and Elliot, who just reconfirmed their feelings for each other? Season 4 can’t come soon enough.
