Rihanna made her long-awaited debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and she did not disappoint.
A little rain didn’t stop the “Umbrella” hitmaker from “shining bright like a diamond” as she and A$AP Rocky hit the red carpet together on May 19 following the premiere of the rapper’s new film Highest 2 Lowest with Denzel Washington and directed by Spike Lee. Rihanna, who revealed her pregnancy at the Met Gala earlier this month, proudly showed off her bump again. She stunned in a blue custom Alaïa halter gown that featured cut-out details and a leg slit on one side.
The couple’s appearance also has people talking because some theorized that the Fenty Beauty founder’s outfit was chosen specifically to reveal the gender of their third child. Here’s more on that and RiRi’s accessories that cost a whopping $900,000 (yes, you read that correctly).
How much each piece of Rihanna’s jewelry cost
The fine jewelry experts at the U.K. retailer Steven Stone have taken a closer look at each sparkling piece Rihanna wore and estimated how much they cost.
“Rihanna’s aquamarine jewelry at Cannes was truly show-stopping,” Maxwell Stone told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “She adorned her ears with the Rosier Pendant Earrings from Boucheron’s Histoire de Style, Untamed Nature High Jewelry Collection. Crafted in white gold, each earring features a 4.10-carat flawless pear-cut diamond, pavé-set with additional diamonds for added sparkle. I’d estimate them to be worth £250,000 ($335,000).”
He continued: “Rihanna also wore the Hopi Hummingbird Ring, which features a 40-carat aquamarine, surrounded by 351 diamonds and 30 blue sapphires. The hummingbird motif symbolizes joy, beauty, and delicate power, perfectly reflecting the exciting journey ahead for both her and A$AP Rocky. Based on aquamarine stones that we’ve sold in the past, I’d estimate it to be worth £350,000 ($470,000).
“Rihanna’s Vendôme Liseré solitaire ring also showcases a striking aquamarine, this time a 13.07-carat emerald-cut stone, elegantly framed by a row of 42 round-cut diamonds that total 1.03 carats. Crafted in 18-carat white gold, the design is enhanced by a sleek black trim. I’d estimate it to be worth £100,000 ($134,000).”
Rihanna’s dress color may not have to do with baby No. 3’s gender at all
After Rihanna’s appearance, social media lit up as fans began speculating that the color of the star’s outfit may have been chosen purposely to reveal the gender of her baby. But as Stone pointed out, there’s another reason altogether that Rihanna may have chosen that shade.
“With the striking blue tones of the aquamarine, the jewelry might be more than just a fashion statement. Traditionally, blue has been associated with masculinity, which has led some fans to speculate that it could be a subtle gender reveal for a baby boy,” Stone said before adding, “However, given that Rihanna also has a major role in the upcoming Smurfs film, it’s just as possible that the blue hues are a playful nod to her character in the animated film.”
Rihanna and Rocky currently have two sons, RZA and Riot. We’ll have to see if that remains the case when their new baby arrives.
