Over the years, the reality television series My 600-Lb. Life has faced the sorrowful loss of several of its former participants.
Debuting on TLC in 2012, My 600-Lb. Life initially followed individuals over a span of seven years in its inaugural season. However, by the second season, the format shifted to chronicle the journeys of cast members over a year. By the eighth season, some stories were captured within just six months.
The show experienced its first major loss in 2013 when Henry Foots, a participant from the first season, passed away. In 2018, another tragedy struck when the Lexington County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina confirmed to Us Weekly that James “L.B.” Bonner had died by suicide.
In a heartbreaking announcement via Facebook in 2026, Lindsey Cooper shared the news of the passing of her sister, Dolly Martinez, a former star of the show, who died at the age of 30.
