Interested in exploring more about Isabelle Tate, her artistic journey, and her involvement in 9-1-1: Nashville? Perhaps you’re curious about the circumstances surrounding her death or her battle with the rare Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease? Or maybe you want to hear the thoughts of 9-1-1: Nashville star Hunter McVey on her passing?

Here’s a closer look at the life and enduring legacy of Isabelle Tate, a promising star of 9-1-1: Nashville.

Who Is Isabelle Tate? 9-1-1: Nashville‘s Episode 4 Tribute Card, Explained

For those unfamiliar, Tate, a Nashville native, made her mark in the Oct. 9 debut of 9-1-1: Nashville. She portrayed Julie, a wheelchair user who encounters Blue (played by Hunter McVey), a future firefighter, at a strip show. On October 21, her passing was publicly announced by a McCray Agency representative on social media, highlighting that 9-1-1: Nashville was the first show she auditioned for and successfully landed a role.

“We are deeply saddened and completely heartbroken to share that Isabelle Tate passed away on October 19th. She was 23,” the post reads. “I’ve known Izzy since she was a teenager and she recently returned to acting. She booked the first series she auditioned for, 9-1-1 Nashville. She had a wonderful time… I was so lucky to know her and she will be greatly missed by so many.”

The McCray Agency also revealed Tate’s cause of death via Instagram Story, explaining that the 23-year-old “had a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease,” which the Carcot-Marie-Tooth Association defines as “a rare multisystem, multiorgan disease that causes lifelong, progressive symptoms, including muscle weakness and atrophy in the arms and legs, sensory loss, and other complications. These symptoms often lead to challenges with balance, walking, hand use, and other daily activities.”

Per Tate’s obituary, she graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and was an aspiring actor. “Isabelle loved volunteering her time to all things, particularly animals — her idea of a fun outing was visiting an animal shelter and doling out lots of love,” the obituary reads. “Isabelle was full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses for the fact that she might have a disability relative to others. She was also quite musically inclined, often spending hours writing and recording songs with friends and even publishing a few. What she loved the most though was spending time with family and friends, always the life of the party.”

Following news of Tate’s death, her 9-1-1: Nashville co-star Hunter McVey shared a statement to People, saying, “I was shocked to hear the news. I didn’t know Isabelle prior to filming, but I couldn’t have asked for someone better to work with on one of my first ever days on set… I was terrified, nervous, and after each take we would get to exchange a couple words which were always supportive from her. I got the pleasure of talking with her after the scene and she had such a great energy. You could tell she brought joy to a lot of people. I’m thankful I got a chance to work with Isabelle and that a part of her will live on forever in the pilot episode of 9-1-1 Nashville. Prayers for her family.”

Tate’s legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, and now, through 9-1-1: Nashville‘s premiere and Episode 4 tribute card. In lieu of flowers her family requested that memorial contributions be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association in Tate’s name.

New episodes of 9-1-1: Nashville premiere Thursdays on ABC with next-day streaming on Hulu.
