Over the weekend, Cori Broadus and her fiancé, Wayne Deuce, gathered with family and friends to bid farewell to their beloved daughter, Codi Dreaux. The memorial service took place on Saturday, February 7, offering a poignant moment for reflection and remembrance.
Both Broadus and Deuce chose to share glimpses of this heartfelt day on social media, inviting others to witness their tribute to Codi. Through these shared moments, the couple opened a window into their world, showing how they chose to celebrate the life of their daughter.
Among the images shared by Broadus, one particularly touching photograph captured her in a serene moment at the gravesite, which was adorned with pink floral arrangements and delicate standing wreaths. Another image showcased a specially crafted keepsake book titled “Codi Dreaux Takes a Trip to Heaven,” a beautiful tribute to their daughter’s memory.
Accompanying the photographs, Broadus penned a poignant message: “Part of me went with you,” conveying the profound impact of Codi’s loss on her life.
“Part of me went with you,” Broadus wrote alongside the snapshots.
Another image she shared to her Instagram Stories showed several of the young children in attendance wearing clothing printed with the phrase “Codi’s Crew.”
Deuce also posted photos from the day, writing, “Forever daddy’s pretty girl I love you so much Codi Dreaux & I will never forget about you girl,” followed by the hashtag #LongLiveCodiDreaux.
During the service, Broadus spoke about her daughter and the future she had imagined as a mother, reflecting on moments she hoped to experience and memories that never had the chance to form. Deuce stood beside her as she addressed family and friends in attendance.
“I wanted to watch you take your first steps, celebrate your first birthday, walk into your first day of school”, Cori said at one point.
Codi was born prematurely in February 2025 and spent most of her life in the neonatal intensive care unit. She later came home last month but died shortly after, on January 26.
On Jan. 31, Broadus publicly announced her daughter’s death on Instagram Stories, sharing a black-and-white photo of herself holding Codi. “Monday I lost the love of my life. My Codi,” she wrote over the image.
In the months prior, Broadus had shared hospital updates documenting her daughter’s progress and setbacks. Following the loss, she said becoming Codi’s mother changed her life.
Broadus is the daughter of Snoop Dogg, who has publicly expressed support following the loss.
