The family of Tommy Lee Jones has broken their silence after the unexpected passing of his daughter, Victoria.
“We are grateful for the heartfelt condolences, kind thoughts, and prayers,” the family conveyed in a message to People on Friday, January 2. “We ask that you honor our need for privacy during this challenging period. Thank you.”
Victoria, aged 34, was discovered unresponsive early on Thursday morning, January 1, at the Fairmont San Francisco Hotel, where she was subsequently declared deceased. She was the daughter of the Men in Black star and his former spouse, Kimberlea Cloughley. The former pair also have a son, Austin Jones, who is 43.
Emergency dispatch audio categorized the incident as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change.” In the context of overdoses, “color change” refers to cyanosis, a condition indicating low blood oxygen levels and linked to heart or lung issues, which can cause the skin, lips, and nails to appear blue or purple, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Victoria had a brief stint in acting, following in her father’s footsteps with roles in Men in Black II (2002), The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005), and a 2003 episode of One Tree Hill.
Court records show that Victoria was arrested at least twice in the past year, including an arrest related to drug possession.
A police source told NBC Bay Area that foul play is not suspected. The official cause of death has not yet been determined.
“We are deeply saddened by an incident that occurred at the hotel on January 1, 2026. Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time,” Fairmont San Francisco press director Michelle Heston told People in a statement. “The hotel team is actively cooperating and supporting police authorities within the framework of the ongoing investigation.”
