Growing up with Heidi Klum as a mother means having access to some of the finest fashion insights, but for her son, Henry Samuel, the most impactful advice wasn’t about style or the spotlight. Instead, it was about self-presentation.

Henry, the 20-year-old offspring of supermodel Heidi Klum and musician Seal, recently shared his thoughts in a joint interview with his mother. This conversation coincided with their joint appearance on the cover of ELLE Germany’s January 2026 issue, photographed by Rankin. This feature signifies a significant step for Henry in his burgeoning modeling career and represents a cherished moment for his iconic mother.

Reflecting on his past, Henry confessed that prior to embracing modeling, he spent considerable time engrossed in video gaming. He recounted how he would spend hours “hunched over his computer,” a habit that prompted Heidi to offer some sage advice. She advised him to “pay attention to my posture,” Henry revealed.

“I’ve always been a fan of video games and often found myself sitting with poor posture,” Henry admitted during the exclusive interview. “But my mom also taught me a lot about maintaining self-confidence.”

Heidi emphasized the idea that confidence is something one can cultivate, even when plagued by self-doubt. “I’m an optimist. I truly believe you can improve your outlook on yourself and life,” she stated. “Of course, there are times when I doubt myself and feel self-critical. However, I have learned how to reclaim positive energy.”

She also reflected on an early career moment that shaped her resilience.

“At the beginning of my career, I modelled for a bridal magazine. The photographer told me I had a terrible laugh. He yelled at me. I started to cry. But instead of giving up, I sat in front of the mirror and practiced laughing. And today, people associate my laugh with me.”

Henry has since made his runway debut at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and walked for Kith in New York, steadily building momentum on his own. He’s also one of four children shared by the supermodel and Seal, alongside Leni, Johan, and Lou.
