A tragic incident in Owerri, Imo State, has left many in shock after a woman reportedly beat her housemaid to death for watching television with her children.

According to a video shared on Facebook by journalist Nonsonkwa Ochi War, the yet-to-be-identified woman was apprehended by neighbours after the incident. The visibly outraged neighbours confronted her, labelling her a “wicked and vile woman.”

In the viral video, the suspect, who is also a nursing mother, was seen surrounded by angry residents demanding justice for the deceased housemaid.

Details of the incident reveal that the underage maid was allegedly punished for sitting with the woman’s children to watch TV, which led to a brutal beating that eventually resulted in her death.

The disturbing video has sparked widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians expressing outrage and calling for justice for the young girl.

As of now, the police have not released an official statement regarding the incident, but calls for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the suspect have been trending online. The case amongst many others has sparked ongoing concerns about the abuse and mistreatment of domestic staff in Nigeria.
