Guy Gansert has found love again, and he has ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ to thank. They met becausae of the show.
ABC shocked The Golden Bachelor fans last month when they announced a lead for season 2 who had not appeared on The Golden Bachelorette. While the move isn’t unheard of, it is undoubtedly a bit unexpected. There might be a reason the network went searching for someone new; the golden contestants who vied for Joan Vassos’ heart months ago haven’t wasted any time looking for love again. Guy Gansert, Vassos’ runner-up, found a new partner, and he feels certain she’s “the one.” So, how did Guy Gansert meet his new girlfriend? Apparently, he has The Golden Bachelorette to thank.
Guy Gansert has a new girlfriend
During his time on The Golden Bachelorette, Guy Gansert insisted he was on the hunt for his person. While he didn’t find her during the dating competition, he found someone special once the series ended. In April, Gansert took to Instagram to reveal he had met someone special. In the touching post, Gansert introduced the world to his girlfriend, Johanna Boston.

After sharing the big news, Gansert sat down for a chat with the Reno Gazette-Journal. The retired emergency room doctor said The Golden Bachelorette helped him meet his special someone. Gansert said after the show, his inbox was flooded with date offers. He happily took several women up on the offer, dating women from around the country. Then, in January, He linked up with Boston. He said they chatted via text before moving things to FaceTime, then eventually taking things out into the real world. Gansert would have never met Boston if he hadn’t been on the show.
He has been married before
Guy Gansert was one of several divorced men who signed up for The Golden Bachelorette to find love. He was pretty fresh off a divorce when he filled out the application. He was married to Heidi Seevers O’Gara, a politician, for 34 years before participating in the show. During their marriage, they welcomed four children: sons Hank and Glenn, and daughters Kirsten and Mackenzie. They split in 2021.
While Gansert was an early frontrunner on The Golden Bachelorette, his time on the series was not without controversy. As the series wrapped up, it was revealed that Gansert’s ex-wife had taken out a temporary restraining order against him after an encounter in a gym parking lot. In the complaint, O’Gara claimed Gansert had threatened and exhibited erratic behavior. The order was dismissed less than a month later.
Gansert publicly addressed the situation, describing it as an “unfortunate situation” during a stressful period and emphasizing that it was resolved amicably. The team behind The Golden Bachelorette said Gansert had been open and honest about the situation during casting.
