TLC is setting the stage for a gripping exploration into the controversial life of Mary Cosby, the star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, with their upcoming three-part docuseries, The Cult of the Real Housewife. This series aims to shed light on the troubling accusations linked to Cosby and the church she runs alongside her husband.

The roots of this controversy trace back to the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, established by Mary’s grandmother, Rosemary “Mama” Cosby. Following Mama Cosby’s passing, the church found itself at the center of a storm when her widower, Robert Cosby Sr., married Mary, who is his non-biological granddaughter, in 1998. At the time, Robert was 45 years old, while Mary was just 25.

Together, Mary and Robert have a 21-year-old son, Robert Cosby Jr.

TLC describes this inheritance as a “hotly contested bequeathment” that thrust Faith Temple into a new and controversial chapter. This transition reportedly led to a significant rupture in Mary’s family, and now, the Bravo personality is under scrutiny for alleged spiritual and financial transgressions.

The Cult of the Real Housewife will bring forward voices from former church members who are speaking out publicly for the first time. The series also includes deeply personal and unsettling accounts from Mary’s family, along with insights from a cult expert on the methods used to establish “mind-control cults.”

The documentary “pulls back the salacious headlines and social media takes to dive deeper and unpack one of the most enduring mysteries at the core of the scandal: How have Mary and Robert Cosby Sr. managed to avoid accountability for so long?”
