Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, Opeyemi Ayanwale, better known as Imisi, has refuted claims that she used a “pity strategy” to attract public sympathy and votes during her time on the show.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, the 23-year-old reality star explained that her journey to the Big Brother house was spontaneous and unplanned.

Imisi revealed that she had little time to prepare after receiving her acceptance email, noting that everything happened so fast that she simply packed what she had available.

“I didn’t come in with a pity strategy. I didn’t even believe I was going to be picked for the show. When I got the mail, I had only a few days to pack. I was in Ijebu at the time, and I brought all the costumes I took to that location to my sister, then we started planning,” she said.

She also clarified that her wardrobe choices on the show reflected her authentic style and personality rather than a deliberate image-building plan.

“I didn’t have time to go home, and even if I did, I feel like it’s just a few things I’d have taken because most of the outfits I wore in the house are what I usually wear outside. That’s just me,” Imisi added.

The reality star emphasized that her focus in the house was simply to be herself, not to win through emotional appeal. She stated that she wanted the audience to connect with her genuine personality rather than any fabricated storyline.

Recall that Imisi was crowned the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, themed 10/10, on Sunday, October 5, 2025. She walked away with the grand prize of N150 million, cementing her place as one of the most memorable winners in the show’s history.
