In a recent podcast, Courtney Love voiced her desire for Dave Grohl to acknowledge their reconciled relationship, hoping this will encourage his followers to stop harassing her.

Occasionally, Courtney Love revisits her history, touching on her infamous disputes and public breakdowns. Now residing in London with a seemingly fresh start, she wishes to quell the animosity that stems from her past. In a new podcast episode, Love addressed her long-standing conflict with Dave Grohl, urging him to “step up” and publicly affirm their truce.

Courtney Love wants Dave Grohl to tell his fans their feud is over

This month, the iconic Hole frontwoman appeared on a podcast, eager to discuss bygone days. Her goal this time, however, is to mend her reputation among Dave Grohl’s admirers. During her conversation on The Magnificent Others, hosted by Billy Corgan, she revisited a rivalry that has intrigued rock enthusiasts for years.

During the chat, Love mentioned ending her feud with Dave Grohl in 2014, noting that they’ve spent time together since and that there is absolutely no issue. Still, Love does wish Grohl would publicly acknowledge that they’ve mended fences. She insists that Grohl’s silence on the matter has caused his fans to continue to “pick” on her. Love seemed to imply that one demographic of his fanbase is worse than others. She mentioned that straight millennial men are some of her biggest haters. Apparently, Gen Z has been more forgiving.

Why were they feuding in the first place?

Courtney Love insists she and Dave Grohl reached a truce years ago, but fans are still arguing over what led to their very fierce, very public beef in the first place. It’s a question they are likely never going to get an answer to. The former friends have never confirmed what actually led to their feud. Still, fans have long insisted that money, Love’s influence on Kurt Cobain, and a massive blowup in the early 1990s were the catalysts.

While neither has explained exactly what happened, Love and Grohl did have a very public and very tense arguement at Pachyderm Studios in February 1993. Nirvana was recording In Utero at the time. While the fight has been mentioned multiple times, including in “Come as You Are,” the source of the conflict is never addressed. Still, it’s largely considered the origin of their famous feud. Cobain’s death, less than a year and a half later, cemented their distaste for each other. Legal battles didn’t mellow things either.

Despite Courtney Love’s plea, Dave Grohl has yet to comment on the situation.
