Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated that he has not yet decided whether he will contest the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku made this known during an interview on Untold Stories, a yet-to-be-aired television program hosted by Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie.

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently spearheaded the formation of a coalition of opposition leaders aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.

However, speculation remains over who will lead the alliance, with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai being among the prominent figures considered.

When asked about his potential candidacy in 2027, Atiku responded, “I don’t know because there has to be, first of all, a viable platform, more than any other time in the political history of this country, particularly since the return of democracy.”

Despite his uncertainty, Atiku, who has contested for the presidency six times, did not rule out the possibility of running again.

I have not seen Nigeria in such dire need of experienced and credible leadership as it is now. We had a similar merger in 2014. About three or four of us contested for president, and we all supported the one who emerged, and he won,” he added.
