President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced plans to build a new national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
Speaking during the 14th APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre on Thursday, July 24, Tinubu emphasized the need for a befitting headquarters for the ruling party.
“We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat,” the president stated.
However, the president did not disclose how much will be spent on the proposed project.
Currently, the party operates from the Muhammadu Buhari House, located at 40 Blantyre Street in Wuse II, Abuja.
The secretariat, named in honor of former President Muhammadu Buhari, was acquired in 2021 after the APC reportedly paid ₦2.5 billion for the property.
Interestingly, although the last NEC meeting took place at Buhari House, Thursday’s emergency session was held at the Presidential Villa, perhaps hinting at the need for a more suitable and functional venue for future gatherings.
