Sweetpea successfully exposes the fact that Tender’s foundational acquisition was fabricated. This revelation unveils that the company’s entire financial structure is based on a series of fraudulent transactions, revealing it as a complete sham. However, Sweetpea’s quest for the truth places her in perilous situations.

During a meeting with Tender’s African CFO, Tony Day (played by Stephen Campbell Moore), Sweetpea faces a menacing encounter in a public restroom. A man threatens her, leading to a scuffle where Sweetpea courageously defends herself, only to end up with a broken nose after being slammed into a vanity mirror.

“I believe it wasn’t supposed to escalate as it did,” Industry star Miriam Petche shared with DECIDER. “Someone was sent to intimidate her, but it spiraled out of control. She defended herself, and that’s when things went too far.”

Petche said that the exercise “of naturally letting that moment kind of get from bad to worse was really interesting” for her and she was thrilled that Sweetpea got to enjoy the spotlight.

“I felt very honored to do that episode in particular,” she said.

After this attack, Kwabena helps Sweetpea connect with a local woman who is able to confirm their suspicions. When they finally track down Tender’s address in Accra and discover nothing is there, they have concrete proof that Tender is all a lie.

Sweetpea and Kwabena return to London victorious, but Sweetpea is still battered and bruised from her experience. When her boss, Harper Stern (Myha’la) offers a rare olive branch of friendship, Sweetpea declines. She ends the episode alone in her apartment, sobbing.

“There’s a couple of moments where I kind of wish Sweetpea let Harper be with her when she needed someone to be with her, when she was not in a good place,” Petche said. “I think Harper sort of offering that further step into friendship that Sweetpea blocks for her own safety because she believes she just has to deal with it all by herself, which is quite sad.”

“Yeah, I think that she doesn’t quite know how to have a female friend that goes beyond the workplace.”

In Sweetpea’s defense, you can’t blame her for being wary of Harper Stern, a character notorious for putting herself first at all times.

“I think Sweetpea really respects Harper. She respects a woman who is highly intelligent, quite uncompromising,” Petche said. “But then, you know, the idealized version of her gives way to the real person when they’re working together.”

“She begins to get quite frustrated when Harper is working in her best interest rather than for the team. There’s just these moments where she’s like, ‘What do you what are you doing? You know, this could be incredible. Why are we working against each other?’”

Here’s hoping for Sweetpea’s sake that the literally stern half of SternTao learns to collaborate more in the weeks ahead.
