Lily Allen has chosen not to intervene in the relationship between her daughters and her ex-husband, David Harbour.
After the couple ended their four-year marriage in February, the “Smile” singer revealed that the Stranger Things actor continues to maintain contact with his stepdaughters, Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12. Allen shares the two girls with her former husband, Sam Cooper.
In a candid conversation with The Observer, published on December 20, Allen expressed her stance on the situation, saying, “I stay out of it.”
At 40, Allen, who touched on themes of infidelity in her latest album West End Girl, emphasized that her children are perfectly capable of maintaining their relationship with David, 50, independently.
“They’ve both got phones,” Allen noted. “They all text each other.”
Shortly after David exchanged vows with Lily in September 2020, he described the positive impact that Ethel and Marnie had made on his life after being “thrust into” a paternal role.
“I’m in a relationship with three women who all have very different opinions of me at various times,” he told People that December. “Making that kind of a commitment, which I haven’t for most of my life, was a huge thing for me. And it just makes you feel a little bit more like a man, to be honest. I just feel a little bit more like an adult.”
