Claudia and John occasionally joined their parents on the red carpet while growing up, appearing at several major events tied to Michelle Pfeiffer’s career. Their public outings included the 2007 premieres of Hairspray and Stardust, Pfeiffer’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony that same year, as well as the 2010 Oscars, the 2011 Golden Globes and a 2012 screening of Dark Shadows. As adults, however, both children have chosen to maintain a far more private life.
Pfeiffer spoke candidly about adjusting to life after her children left home during a December appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “You do feel empty when they leave,” she said. “It doesn’t last. I mean, you miss them terribly. It’s like an appendage is gone….You do recover.”
Then, in 2024, the actress stepped into an entirely new chapter of family life.
Pfeiffer became a grandmother after her daughter Claudia welcomed a baby girl that year. Reflecting on the milestone during a 2025 appearance on the SmartLess podcast, the former Catwoman said, “I’ve been very quiet about it. It’s heaven. It’s ridiculous.”

The arrival has also encouraged Pfeiffer to consider another pause in her busy career. Alongside acting and producing, she leads the fragrance company Henry Rose, whose name combines her children’s middle names.
Although she remains thankful for the work coming her way, Pfeiffer told Fox News Digital in November that the timing of her daughter’s pregnancy caught her by surprise. “Little did I know that my daughter was planning on getting pregnant, which she did successfully, and lo and behold here I am working a lot,” she said. “So I think I’m going to have probably the most of next year off, which I’m really looking forward to.”
“Look, it’s an embarrassment of riches, honestly. It’s like, ‘Wah!’” Pfeiffer continued. “I’m just really wanting my choices and the way I spend my time—whatever time I have left, to spend it meaningful is what I’m really focusing on.”
Before any extended time away, though, Pfeiffer will turn her attention to the Emmys on Sept. 14, joining the other nominees at the ceremony.
