Insider reveals Taylor Swift in talks to play Super Bowl halftime show

As her lyrics go, Taylor Swift has certainly done many things in life ‘greater than dating the boy on the football team’.

And now, she may be performing during the greatest football game of all.

Following Swift’s announcement of her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce last month, rumors abounded that the 14-time Grammy winner would play the Super Bowl halftime show.

Swift has never played the slot, but she would join an illustrious list of pop stars who have, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Lady Gaga.

Swifties can (cautiously) rejoice, because an insider exclusively tells the Daily Mail that the rumors are true: ‘negotiations are happening with Taylor to potentially do the next Super Bowl’, scheduled for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Our source added that ‘the NFL would like to make the announcement sometime right before Thanksgiving.’

Once the NFL confirms a performer, they immediately set up a ‘commercial and photo shoot to guarantee they have everything in place for the show in February.’ Football aficionados will know who’s performing by October, which is when contracts will be finalized.

However, Swift isn’t the only star in the running.

According to the insider, ‘Jay-Z and [his company] Roc Nation have also been looking at making the show a little country by seeing if Post Malone and Jelly Roll would like to do it.’

Jay-Z and Roc Nation have produced the halftime shows ever since they signed a deal with the NFL in 2020. Since then, halftime shows have featured Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Dr. Dre, The Weeknd and more, including special guests they’ve brought on.

Swift would certainly have a plethora of A-list talent available to join her onstage if she chose to perform, as she famously brought out Phoebe Bridgers, Maren Morris, Haim, Hayley Williams, Ice Spice, Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams during her sold-out stops on her record-breaking worldwide Eras Tour.

One reason Swift is a likely candidate for football’s biggest concert? Our insider said that not only does the singer really want to play the halftime, but Kelce is also actively invested.

Even if Swift doesn't take her talents onstage, it's likely she'll be at the Super Bowl this year as a guest of her future hubby. Above, she's seen surrounded by stars at the Super Bowl in 2024

Kelce, 35, is about to begin what many believe will be his last season. If his Kansas City Chiefs were to make it to an historic third Super Bowl in a row, Swift playing the halftime would be the ultimate ‘shared memory’ for the couple, our insider added.

And if not next year, Swift ‘would love to do the show a few years from now so Travis can experience it and not be in the locker room if the Chiefs just so happened to be in the game.’

At the end of the day, though she wants to do it eventually, she doesn’t have to do it at all – her career is just fine as it is,’ the insider added of the $1.6 billion pop star.

Swift and Roc Nation did not respond to requests for comment.
