Inter Milan are pushing to complete the signing of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta within the next 10 days, according to reports in Italy.
The Nerazzurri have identified Lookman as a key attacking target and are keen to avoid a prolonged transfer saga similar to last summer’s drawn-out negotiations for Teun Koopmeiners, who eventually joined Juventus.
While Lookman is said to favour a move to Inter, Atalanta are reportedly holding out for a fee of €50 million.
Inter are expected to offer €45 million plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons to meet that valuation.
Sources close to the deal suggest Inter have been informed that Lookman was previously promised a move if a €40 million bid arrived.
However, Atalanta appear to have revised their stance in light of the 26-year-old’s impressive form.
With new manager Cristian Chivu eager to have his full squad in place ahead of the new season, Inter are working with urgency to finalise the transfer quickly and avoid unnecessary delays.
