At the tender age of 10, Jahleel Kamara is already crafting an impressive career in the entertainment industry.
His burgeoning résumé boasts a variety of roles across television and film projects, including appearances in notable productions such as Manifest, Nanny, Rise, and B-Boy Blues.
Kamara’s latest venture is in the film Shadow Force, a performance that has garnered significant attention and earned him his first nomination for an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Youth in a Motion Picture.
Born to parents from Sierra Leone, Jahleel was introduced to acting at the age of four. He attributes his cultural heritage and early start in the industry as key influences in his development as an actor.
In a conversation with Disrupshionmag.com, Jahleel expressed his enthusiasm for Shadow Force, highlighting his excitement about working in an action film, a genre he finds particularly thrilling.
“I’ve done comedy, thrillers, calm stuff—and now action,” he said. “I never did an action movie before,” he added. “I love me some action, let’s just say that.”
In Shadow Force, Kamara shares the screen with Kerry Washington and Omar Sy. He said the experience of working with them pushed him to elevate his acting. “They’re such powerful actors, and they’re really going to bring this movie up.”
Through his work, Jahleel has filmed in locations including Colombia, Atlanta, and Greece.
Despite his Hollywood success, he remains grounded and self-aware. When asked what he wants people to take away from his performance, he said, “Some people might just see me as funny, but I hope they see the other side too. The emotional side.”
Shadow Force follows the story of an estranged couple with a bounty on their heads who must go on the run with their son to avoid their former employer, a unit of shadow ops sent to kill them.
In addition to Kerry Washington, Omar Sy, and Jahleel Kamara, Shadow Force also stars Mark Strong, Method Man, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, among others. Shadow Force is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
