Amari Price is quickly establishing herself as a notable figure within the burgeoning landscape of young Hollywood. Curious about who Amari Price is? Discover more about the emerging starlet from the film The Knife.

Before her role in The Knife, the talented 16-year-old gained recognition for portraying Janie Loomis in the 2023 coming-of-age film Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

In a conversation with nycastings.com, Amari expressed her excitement about securing her first significant role.

“Playing Janie Loomis was an absolute blast! It marked my debut in a theatrical production. Although I had appeared in commercials, I was just beginning to audition for films and television,” she shared with the publication.

“I auditioned for Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret in 2021, during a time when everything was done via self-tape due to quarantine. Just a week after submitting my audition, I received a callback, followed by another callback a week later with the director. The subsequent week, I had a chemistry read with Abby Ryder Fortson, who played Margaret, the film’s lead. The chemistry read was the highlight of the audition process for me because it involved improvisation, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Once the audition wrapped, I felt confident about my performance. I had such a great time improvising with Abby, and I thought, ‘This is what it would be like if I got the part,’ which I did!”

In addition to acting, Amari is also a dancer. The teen told the outlet that dancing keeps her healthy and is a great form of exercise.

“I love to dance. It keeps me healthy and it is great exercise. I don’t stretch as much as I would like, but it’s very important. It also helps with your flexibility, and I love the idea of being flexible. I was very flexible when I was younger, but not so much anymore. I also tumble a little and I have taken all sorts of dance classes. What I love the most about dance is I can put what I’m feeling into it. It’s a great way to express yourself and that’s something I really enjoy about dancing.”

In 2024, Amari landed a role in The Knife, a film directed by Nnamdi Asomugha.

In The Knife, Amari portrays one of the daughters, Kendra, in a family whose lives are thrown into chaos after a mysterious intruder breaks into their home late one night. As the story unfolds, the family becomes caught in an intense investigation that tests their loyalty to one another and exposes hidden truths.

Having been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for the film in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Youth in a Motion Picture, Amari continues to build her acting résumé.
