Angelina Jolie could permanently leave the U.S. as soon as July 2026
As of February 2026, Angelina Jolie, the esteemed actor, remains settled in Los Angeles. She has resided there with her six children since before her divorce from Brad Pitt was finalized in December 2024. Together, they have three biological children—Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne—and three adopted children—Maddox, Pax, and Zahara. Their family has called a Los Feliz neighborhood home for several years. Meanwhile, one of her older sons now occupies a New York City apartment she formerly owned, serving as a convenient base for her children when visiting the city. Throughout this time, Jolie has adeptly balanced her life between California, frequent international travel, and raising her mostly grown family.

Rumblings of Jolie leaving LA have persisted since August 2025. A source told People that Jolie planned to “put the house up for sale” while exploring her options for living abroad. The source alleged that the actor “never wanted to live in L.A. full-time. She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.”
So, when does Jolie plan to make the big move? She “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year,” the insider continued. “She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
In September 2025, Jolie said during a press conference that she no longer recognizes her home country.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” she said at the 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival, according to Variety. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life…. My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous. These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”
Knox and Vivienne turn 18 on July 12, 2026. With this in mind, it seems likely that Jolie will aim for a U.S. departure around this time.
