Is Kody Brown Really That Petty?

Sister Wives‘ Kody Brown is one of the pettiest male reality TV stars, as he always makes people pay for how he believes they’ve wronged him. Worse, since he doesn’t appear to have that many close friends, those who receive his ire are typically the members of his own family.

Kody Brown is the most petty reality TV star

Of all the male reality television stars currently on air, Sister Wives star Kody Brown is the most petty. If he believes he has been wronged, Kody will make that person pay.

Why is Kody like that? Because his ego will not allow him to be wrong.

After three decades of having women fight for his attention, Kody couldn’t handle it when three of his four wives left. Instead of reflecting on why they may have walked out, Kody became vindictive.

Subsequently, Kody appeared to use manipulation to try and keep his wives on an emotional string. When that stopped working, he monetarily held them hostage.

The biggest money manipulator in Kody’s deck of cards is the family’s plot of land in Flagstaff, Arizona. Coyote Pass was purchased with good intentions. However, after finally paying off the land with contributions by Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, Kody and Robyn Brown are holding the land as collateral.

Scenes from season 19, where Meri and Janelle lawyered up against Kody, were filmed almost two years ago. The land remains unsold. Christine sold Kody and Robyn her land in return for the proceeds of the sale of her Flagstaff house in 2021 for $10.

Kody has sold his and Robyn’s Flagstaff home to purchase an even bigger home worth over $2 million. Meanwhile, Janelle and Meri are in a holding pattern financially, due to Kody’s reluctance to settle with them.

How long will Kody hold Coyote Pass hostage?

Kody Brown could potentially hold Coyote Pass hostage for as long as he wants. Since Meri and Janelle were not legally married to the Sister Wives star, they can’t claim their portion of a potential sale that way.

However, if there are receipts from the 2018 purchase when all the women signed off on the property with Kody, they may have a legal leg to stand upon. Also, if they can prove they financially contributed to the property, that will help them in the future.

But Kody could continue to hold onto Coyote Pass as equity against Janelle and Meri as long as he wants or unless he is forced to sell legally. As viewers have seen on season 19, sneaky Kody already went behind the women’s backs to have a realtor scout for potential interest in the property.

Kody Brown keeps changing his story about Coyote Pass

Sister Wives star Kody Brown is trying to clear the air about who purchased the plots of land at Coyote Pass. “We didn’t pay for Coyote Pass all equally,” Kody claimed during the Jan. 26, episode. “I paid for an entire lot all by myself, at least 92 percent of it.”

The father of 18 said he and his then-wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown, and current wife, Robyn Brown, “chipped in” for the rest of the acres of the Arizona land. Janelle explained that the decision to sell “hinges on Kody” because he’s the one who is on all the titles.

“He’s the one that has to make changes in ownership. Are you going to show up and divide these fairly? What are we doing? Because he’s very wishy-washy,” Janelle said.

“He says something, then you don’t hear from him forever. I don’t know there’s no reassurance that he’s going to be kind.”

Janelle then claimed that Kody pilfered money from the family fund before she left. “And then the last several years, Kody would just take out funds and I don’t know what for. And the money was just being spent — and lots of it,” she explained.

Kody denied the accusations that he spent money behind Janelle’s back. “I was a father to 18 and a husband to more than just Janelle,” he argued. “So we had a lot of places that money needed to go that weren’t always Janelle’s business.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
