Lisa Vanderpump wants people to do better. On Sunday, the reality TV icon took to social media to beg fans to check their online hate and remember that the cast of shows like Vanderpump Villa were real people with real feelings. But some critics think she’d do well to take her own advice.

The second season of Lisa’s newest reality series, Vanderpump Villa, premiered April 24. Naturally, viewers had opinions about what went down in the new episodes, and they didn’t hesitate to express them online. But the SUR restaurateur urged people to remain kind ahead of the show’s season 2 reunion, which drops May 8 on Hulu.
“To all of our wonderful fans: I’m so grateful for your passion and support for my shows,” she wrote in the May 4 Instagram post. “But I must say this—no one deserves to be bullied, harassed, or targeted online. The cast members are human beings, with real feelings, doing their best in a high-pressure environment. Healthy conversation is welcomed, but cruelty is not. Let’s uplift, not tear down. Kindness always wins.”
Vanderpump Villa’s sophomore outing delivered plenty of drama, including a one-sided flirtation between cast member Marciano Brunette and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Demi Engemann when she visited the castle in Italy. Later, Lisa fired Marciano and fellow cast member Hannah Fouch after they got into a fight with Siadi, another Castello Rosato employee. Meanwhile, Siadi’s own mysterious past – and his bad attitude – caused conflict in the villa. Eventually, Lisa gave him the boot as well.
Is Lisa Vanderpump a hypocrite?
The ex-Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star might have wanted Vanderpump Villa viewers to take the high road. But her call for civility was met with raised eyebrows by some, who pointed out that Lisa has not always practiced what she’s preaching.
“LV, the phone call is coming from inside the house,” one person replied.
Some criticized Lisa for failing to defend Raquel Leviss during the infamous “Scandoval” situation, while others called her out for giving controversial Pump Rules and The Valley cast member Jax Taylor a platform. A number of people referenced her response to a December 2024 domestic violence incident between Vanderpump Rules cast members James Kennedy and Ally Lewber.
“Yet she didn’t release a statement about the continuous James abuse? Other than ‘he needs to stop drinking’ never addressing the awful harassment of women?” one person commented.
“Where was this energy for James Kennedy and his actual physical ‘bullying’ against women?” another echoed.
“Lisa, you cannot spout about ‘healthy conversation’ when multiple women have said that you’ve made phone calls to coerce them into staying with very unhealthy men,” one person wrote. (Ally said during a recent appearance on The Viall Files podcast that Lisa urged her to reconcile with James following their altercation after Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party.)
“I don’t think, at your age, you will ever acknowledge how damaging your internalised misogyny has been on the women around you,” the person added. “To try and manipulate and guilt the audience for behaviours you’ve participated in yourself, sorry but you’re not the right person to be talking about this.”
