Was Daredevil: Born Again canceled?

Marvel star Charlie Cox has sent fans into a tizzy after referring to the highly anticipated next season as the “final” installment of the show. But Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Cox’s on-screen nemesis Kingpin, offered some hope for more episodes down the line.

During a recent appearance at GalaxyCon, Cox teased what fans should expect from the new season, which he says will bring more “badass” suits for the masked hero. “There’s something we do in this final season that doesn’t exist in the comics, so it’s unique to our show,” he said.

Fans on X quickly flocked to D’Onofrio for clarification, who seemingly denied the claim.

“Good chance there will be a third,” he said on X.

He later added on X, “I believe Charlie meant the last season we actually shot meaning the second season. Yet he used the term final season so its a bit confusing. But Charlie and i have discussed and we both agree there’s a very good chance for a third season.”

Canceling Daredevil: Born Again would be a huge blow to Marvel fans. The highly anticipated series finally premiered on Disney+ in 2025, seven years after Netflix canceled the original Daredevil after just three seasons.

The continuation takes place five years after the events of Season 3, starring much of the original cast, including Cox, D’Onofrio, and Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

Disney+’s take on the vigilante also featured a cameo from The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). It has already been confirmed that Jessica Jones (Kristen Ritter) will be starring in Season 2, as well as newcomer Matthew Lillard.

Cox has spoken at length about his expectations for Season 2, which recently wrapped filming.

“The good news is we’re just getting started,” Cox said at the Disney Upfront in May, per Deadline. “We’re currently shooting Season 2, and it is heading in a bold new direction.”

For now, it remains to be seen if Season 2 will be the last we see of the masked vigilante.

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
