Taylor Frankie Paul doesn’t seem ready to part ways with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives just yet.
Last month, production on the Hulu series’ fifth season was halted due to an investigation into a February altercation involving Paul and her former boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Both parties had accused each other of domestic violence. However, with the recent decision by the court not to pursue charges against Paul, it appears that Hulu is gearing up to resume filming soon.
People magazine reports that production for Season 5 is set to recommence shortly. The publication also noted that neither Paul nor Mortensen would be part of the filming when it resumes. Nonetheless, Paul seemed to have received different information. She commented on People’s Instagram post, hinting at her possible return by saying, “Interesting, that’s not the call I got.” Paul also showed her support for a video by @stephwiththedeets, where the content creator speculated about her comeback to the show.
Additionally, TMZ has reported that while Mortensen will not continue his involvement with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul is expected to rejoin the series when she is prepared to do so.
DECIDER reached out to representatives of the show for comments but had not received a response by the time of publication.
Mortensen, for his part, revealed in a lengthy Instagram statement earlier this week that he would be stepping away from the spotlight to focus on being the “best father” he can be to his and Paul’s 2-year-old son, Ever. “I’ve chosen to step away from the spotlight to focus on my family, my growth, and our healing, and that’s where my energy will remain,” he wrote. “I’m closing an unhealthy chapter and moving forward with hope for better days ahead.”
This (hopefully) marks the end of an unhealthy cycle for both Paul and Mortensen, which has played out over the first four seasons of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Their most recent dispute not only landed them back in court, but also unearthed past skeletons, including a video from the night of Paul’s 2023 domestic violence arrest. The three-year-old video, taken by Mortensen, showed Paul drunkenly hurling metal barstools at him, one of which seemingly hit her young daughter in the crossfire. The leaked video ultimately resulted in ABC’s decision to cancel Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, which was slated to premiere days later.
While Paul’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars were the ones who pushed for the filming pause, it seems like they are just as eager to get back to work. “MomTok back together hallelujah,” Jessi Draper posted on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night (April 21).
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
