First, an exceptional four-part docuseries, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, premieres January 16 on Peacock. Featuring interviews with over 60 SNL contributors, the first two episodes center on the audition process and writers’ room, while the final two installments are stand-alone docs that focus on the classic “More Cowbell” sketch and Lorne Michael’s return to the show for Season 11.

Fun fact: The cast for Saturday Night Live Season 11 included Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Michael Hall, Randy Quaid, and Joan Cusack.

NBC will also air a live three-hour primetime special celebrating 50 years of Saturday Night Live on Sunday, February 16. But when exactly does SNL return with new episodes in 2025? Is SNL new tonight? Here’s everything you need to know.

Next week! Dave Chappelle (with musical guest Glorilla) will host the January 18 episode, followed by Timothee Chalamet pulling double duty (host and musical guest) on January 25.
