The end of May used to be a time when you could catch up on a few TV shows you might have missed during the first half of the year. But not anymore!
Netflix’s “Top 10 TV Shows” list is filled with a mix of intriguing new documentaries — The Tylenol Murders and American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden — and buzzy new shows — Sirens, The Four Seasons, and She the People — that’ll have you glued to your couch. So much to stream, so little time.
While Netflix, Hulu, and HBO continue to drop new shows, many of your network favorites are on hiatus. Over on ABC, Grey’s Anatomy is on summer vacation (but Season 21 drops June 14 on Netflix), while CBS favorites like Matlock and Fire Country are off until the fall. Tuesday nights are usually reserved for new episodes of The Rookie, but unfortunately, the Nathan Fillion favorite is on an extended break.

Nope. The seventh season finale of The Rookie aired Tuesday, May 13 on ABC. Tonight’s ABC primetime schedule consists of new episodes of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Masters, followed by a rerun of The Game Show Show.

Has The Rookie Been Renewed For Season 8?
You know it! In April 2025, ABC renewed The Rookie for an eighth season. Per Deadline, the upcoming season is expected to consist of 18 episodes.
When Does The Rookie Return With New Episodes On ABC?
Unfortunately, The Rookie isn’t on ABC’s 2025 fall schedule. Just like last season, the network is holding The Rookie and Will Trent for midseason. No official premiere dates have been announced, but both shows are expected to return in January 2026.
