Streamers are obsessed with Benito Skinner’s sensational new college comedy Overcompensating.

Now available on Prime Video, this immensely bingeable coming-of-age delight follows the story of Benny (Skinner), a closeted freshman who becomes fast friends with a high school outsider, Carmen (Wally Baram), who’s on a mission to fit in at all costs. Also starring Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, Rish Shah, and Holmes, this irresistible joyride of a series is bursting with originality as it combines clever humor and stealthy heart to create one of the most enjoyable new shows of 2025.

Watch it now and thank us later.

Fans who’ve already devoured the freshman season of Amazon’s buzzy new hit are clamoring for a sophomore year. Has Overcompensating been renewed for Season 2? Will there be a second season of Overcompensating on Prime Video? Here’s everything we know.

How Many Episodes Are There of Amazon’s Overcompensating?

The first season of Overcompensating consists of eight total episodes.

Who’s In The Cast of Overcompensating?

Overcompensating has one of the deepest ensembles on streaming. The series stars Benito Skinner, Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah, and also features Andrea Martin, Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Nell Verlaque, Owen Thiele, and Homes in recurring roles.

The show also has a slew of high-profile guest stars, including Lukas Gage, Megan Fox, Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers, James Van Der Beek, Didi Conn, and Charli XCX.

Where To Watch Overcompensating:

Overcompensating is now streaming on Prime Video, which is available for $14.99/month or $139/year. A standalone Prime Video membership is also an option for $8.99/month, and an ad-free version of Prime is available for an additional $2.99/month.

Amazon offers a discounted student option for $7.49/month or $69/year, and EBT, Medicaid, SNAP, and other select government assistance recipients can qualify for a reduced $6.99/month membership.

You can sample the service by taking advantage of Prime Video’s 30-day free trial.

Will There Be a Season 2 of Overcompensating on Prime Video?

There’s no official word on a second season, but there are a variety of factors that point to a renewal. The show has been a hit with both fans and critics, currently boasting an impressive 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. Plus, as I’m writing this, the series is the No. 1 show on Prime Video. Take THAT, Reacher.

No spoilers here, but Overcompensating ends on a cliffhanger, and series creator Benito Skinner recently told Variety that he’s “ready to go” when it comes to a potential sophomore season.

“I think I know what I want to do, and there’s so much more we wanna say,” Skinner said. “There will be backslide, and that’s what that finale is. This journey of becoming yourself and overcompensating, it’s a rollercoaster and at times I think college can be so selfish and you can be like, it’s every man for himself. It’s drugs and alcohol and feelings and we didn’t want to stray from that, and we want to continue it.”

“I know what Benny has planned for Season 2 if we get one, and it’s insane, it’s so good,” star Adam DiMarco teased. “I wish I could tell you. I don’t really know what to say other than it’s just more unhinged and more insane than this season.”

Based on the above information, we believe there’s a very good chance that Overcompensating will be back for a second season. C’mon, Amazon. You can’t flunk a show that earned straight A’s!

All eight episodes of Overcompensating are now streaming on Prime Video.
