Jenelle Evans appears in 'Teen Mom: The Next Chapter'

Reality TV News

Jenelle Evans’ son is speaking out against her, and setting the record straight on who is and is not speaking to the media about his custody drama.

Jace Evans is back in North Carolina, without his mother, Jenelle Evans, and his siblings. Despite the teen revealing that the former Teen Mom 2 star canceled his phone as he left Las Vegas, he’s back on Instagram and spilling the tea. He is using the social media platform to expose his mother. He’s also using it to defend his extended family. Jace insists that no one in his family is leaking information to the media, no matter what Jenelle Evans says. It’s a claim Evans has made against her mother, Barbara Evans, multiple times. While Jace didn’t name any names, it’s obvious he was referencing his beleaguered grandma.

Jace Evans wants to set the record straight on one thing: his family isn’t selling stories about his mother to the media. The 16-year-old took to Instagram to update fans and followers on his whereabouts, revealing he was back in North Carolina and doing much better than before. He didn’t give details on who he is living with, but he did defend his family. In an Instagram story, he insists that no matter what his mother thinks, the family isn’t selling stories to the media.

The comment is a pointed one. Jenelle has accused almost everyone in her life of “selling” stories to the media and “profiting” off of her at some point. She’s accused her mother of talking to the media multiple times. She has made the same accusation against her sister, Ashleigh. She even yanked her younger son, Kaiser Griffith, out of the care of his paternal family because of a single comment made to a publication.

Jenelle Evans has yet to respond. She’s spent the last 24 hours ignoring the drama and featuring wholesome family activities, sans her eldest child, on Instagram. The sudden content shift might have something to do with an active CPS investigation as much as it has to do with Jace’s move back to his home state.

Unraveling the teen’s hectic time in his mother’s custody

Jace Evans is the only Teen Mom kid who did not live with a parent while being filmed for the show. Jace spent most of his time with his grandmother, Barbara Evans. She had custody of the boy from the time he was an infant until she agreed to sign over custody to Jenelle in 2023. The problems started pretty quickly after that. Jace moved in with his mother, stepfather, and two younger siblings in March 2023. By August 2023, Jenelle reported Jace as a runaway. Several more runaway attempts were made before CPS removed the teen from the home. The move came after he was allegedly physically attacked by David Eason. Eason will be going to trial on child abuse charges.

Jace moved around several times before being returned to his mother’s care in February 2024, the same month she filed for divorce from David Eason. Jace was barely given any time to settle down. In May 2024, Jenelle Evans moved the family to Las Vegas to be closer to the man she was dating. They broke up, but the family stayed in Vegas.

In June 2025, Jenelle sent her teenage son to live with his biological father for the summer. Jenelle has cited several different reasons for sending him to live elsewhere during different interviews. Regardless of the reasoning, the stay was short-lived. Jace returned ot Las Vegas after just a few short weeks. Now, in August 2025, he’s returned to North Carolina. It’s unclear if the move will be permanent.
