Two more ‘Chicago Fire’ cast members will be leaving at the end of season 13.
More changes are coming to Chicago Fire. Cast members Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri are leaving the NBC drama at the end of season 13.
Lockett has played firefighter Sam Carver since season 11. Kyri joined the Dick Wolf series in season 7 as firefighter Darren Ritter. Deadline was the first to report the news.
Daniel Kyri will miss his ‘Chicago Fire’ character
Kyri reacted to the news of his Chicago Fire exit on social media.
“I’ll miss this character, and it’s time to move on,” he wrote on his Instagram Story (via Us Weekly). “Thank you to the cast, crew, & the awesome fans.”
Lockett’s departure comes not long after he was promoted to series regular in season 13, a change which he was “excited” about, he said in a 2024 interview with TVLine.
“This is a group of people that, really, from the jump have accepted me as such, and it’s nice to have everything reflected in the same way,” he said. “I think Carver’s had such a nice, significant role in the firehouse that, hey, let’s keep it going. I’m having a blast.”
Production is ongoing on Chicago Fire Season 13, which means that both Carver and Ritter could get a proper sendoff at the end of the season. NBC hasn’t announced an air date for the season 13 finale, but it will likely be sometime in May.
Last year, original Chicago Fire cast member Eammon Walker left the show (though he returned to guest star in an April 2025 episode). He’d played Chief Wallace Boden for 12 seasons. Kara Killmer, who played Sylvie Brett, also departed earlier in season 12. Dermot Mulroney joined this season as new chief Dom Pascal.
Is ‘Chicago Fire’ renewed for season 14?
The Chicago Fire cast changes come as fans of the show wait for news about its future. NBC has not yet renewed the long-running show for a 14th season. However, the series – which remains one of the network’s most popular scripted programs – is likely to return, along with sister series Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, according to Deadline. However, most cast reductions for all three One Chicago shows could be on the horizon as NBC looks to cut costs.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
