Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have revealed they were nearly burgled by a balaclava-wearing intruder.

The Made In Chelsea stars, who live in West London, were woken up at 6am to loud bangs as someone tried to break into their home.

Given their roles on the Channel 4 show, the pair used to rent in Chelsea before moving out of the area after buying a family home in Notting Hill last year.

Speaking about the ordeal on their Newly Weds podcast, Jamie admitted he was ‘butt naked’ when he heard loud noises and leapt into action.

‘At 5:45 am, I heard this boom, boom, boom, and I was like, “What the hell is that?”‘ he said. ‘Sophie was still fast asleep next to me. So I got up, completely naked, and went downstairs to check.

‘I looked out the front of our apartment – nothing. No delivery, no people, completely dark. But then I went to our sitting room and looked out the window.

‘I always sleep with the window open, and I suddenly saw someone trying to break into the flat below, wearing a balaclava.

‘I thought I would go full Rambo mode, but instead, I just panicked and started going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!’

Jamie quickly called the police, to which he added: ‘I asked them how long the response time was, if we needed to get out of the house.

‘I was freaking out. I even went downstairs and lay down against our front door, using my whole body as a human door wedge.’

Sophie went on to discuss the near miss on her podcast Wednesday, which she hosts with former Made In Chelsea co-star Melissa Tattam.

‘Someone tried to break into our apartment at 6am this morning,’ she said. ‘I was fast asleep.

‘I woke up to Jamie, very calmly I may add, going, “Sophie, we’re getting burgled. You need to get up, put your shoes on, we need to leave”.

‘And I was just like, “What?” And so I just stayed. He then rushed back downstairs, he didn’t stay with me. So I just stayed in bed, because I thought, “Oh, he said the police are coming”.’

Sophie went on to praise the police present as she revealed that two vans and 10 officers attended their call.

‘Can I just say that 10 policemen came?’ she said. ‘It was unbelievable. Maybe there were two vans of policemen. Like, serious, they were so amazing.’

Sophie said: ‘One of them looked and sounded like Luca Bish.

‘And all I was thinking was saying to him, “Have you ever been told you look like Luca Bish?” Like, I was being so coy and weird.’

‘But the guy climbed through a pub, he then put loads of furniture up to try and find…’ Sophie said, as Melissa interjected: ‘So he broke into the pub first?’

Sophie confirmed: ‘Broke into the pub, climbed over there, all to get to our flat, which is just f*****g creepy.’

Jamie and Sophie, who tied the knot in a lavish second ceremony in Spain in 2023, received the keys for a house in Notting Hill, after having spent three years renting an apartment in the area.
