Australian actor Jason Clarke is lining up an impressive slate of future projects.
In the wake of news that Clarke was joining the ensemble cast of Tom McCarthy’s upcoming film, Deadline has revealed that he will also star alongside Viola Davis in the Amazon MGM thriller Ally Clark. This project, initially announced in June 2025, was first mentioned last summer. Although specifics about Clarke’s character remain under wraps, anticipation is building.
Directed by Phillip Noyce, Ally Clark features Davis as an investigator who delves into the murky dealings of an international conglomerate following the mysterious death of a friend. What begins as a New York City case quickly escalates into a nationwide chase, taking audiences from the depths of Louisiana’s bayous to the far reaches of Alaska.
The screenplay, penned by Jose Ruisanchez and Irwin Winkler, will see production under Winkler Films with Charles Winkler and David Winkler. Davis, alongside Julius Tennon, will produce via JuVee Productions, where Melanie Clark serves as an executive producer with Ian Watermeier.
This film marks the second collaboration between Clarke and Davis, who previously worked together on the 2010 drama Trust.
Clarke has been on a tear lately. In addition to McCarthy’s upcoming project, the actor has signed on to star opposite Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo in Netflix’s live-action Gundam movie from Legendary. He recently wrapped production on F.A.S.T., the Warner Bros. action thriller penned by Taylor Sheridan, and is also attached to Wind River: The Next Chapter.
He also had a packed 2025, appearing in Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, the Hulu limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family, where he played convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, and Apple TV+’s The Last Frontier.
Amazon MGM is currently eyeing a 2027 release for Ally Clark, with more casting news expected as the project moves forward.
