Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has already amassed a collection of accolades, including championships and All-Star appearances. However, his most ambitious long-term aspiration is to extend his career by another decade, allowing him the unique opportunity to share the court with his oldest child, Deuce.
During a recent appearance on “The Morris Code” livestream with Marcus and Markieff Morris, Tatum humorously calculated this possibility live, as he considered Deuce’s upcoming 8th birthday. “He’s turning 8, and I’m 27 now. It makes you think, ‘Can I play another 10 years?'” he mused.
For the 27-year-old, the prospect of a decade more on the court seemed entirely feasible. “I can absolutely do that. If everything aligns, it would be amazing,” he expressed confidently.
Born in December 2017, Deuce has become a beloved figure among Celtics fans, often seen strolling through stadium tunnels with his father, sporting kid-sized jerseys, and showcasing his own game-day outfits, which he reportedly selects himself.
In a conversation with People Magazine, Tatum revealed that his son, Jayson “Deuce” Christopher Tatum Jr., is beginning to see basketball as more than just a pastime. “He just joined an organized basketball team,” Jayson shared in a 2023 interview. “He’s really starting to develop a passion for the game. Watching that unfold is truly exciting.”
Jayson previously told People Magazine that his oldest son, whose full name is Jayson “Deuce” Christopher Tatum Jr., has reached the age where basketball is becoming more than just a hobby. “He just started playing basketball on the organized team,” he explained in an interview in 2023. “So he’s really starting to fall in love with the game. It’s exciting to see that.”
And while NBA families are nothing new, actually playing together is extremely rare. The league’s only father-son teammates so far are LeBron and Bronny James, making the idea of a Tatum-Tatum duo an immediate future headline.
Jayson also welcomed a second son, Dylan, with singer Ella Mai in 2024, and said both boys helped him through the mental and physical challenges of coming back from injury. After rupturing his Achilles, he recalled asking Deuce about returning to form. “Deuce,” he said to his son, pointing to the players he was watching on the tablet, “You think Daddy’s going come back and be able to do that again?”
His son didn’t hesitate. Jayson remembered the look and the answer.
“Of course,” Deuce told him. the father-of-two added, “I really needed that. There have been plenty of moments during this when I doubted myself. My son thinks I can do anything.”
