Jelena Dokic has finally spoken out after fuelling speculation she is engaged to her new partner, Yane Veselinov.

The former tennis champion, 42, addressed the rumours in a candid interview with Stellar Magazine this week, revealing how she’s navigating life and love in the public eye after years of heartbreak.

‘He’s not anonymous anymore. We talk about that a lot and I want to make sure that he’s OK, that he doesn’t feel like [his] privacy was invaded,’ she told the publication.

‘I’ve been in the spotlight since the age of 12, so it’s very different for me. The most important thing is that we’re happy. I’ve had to do a lot of healing, a lot of soul-searching.’

Dokic split from her long-time partner, Tin Bikic, in 2022 after 19 years together and admitted the end of that relationship left her questioning everything.

‘I gave up on a lot of things, personally, as a woman and had to decide whether I wanted to be a mother, whether I wanted to adopt. I didn’t know what was around the corner,’ she said.

‘I’m really grateful and lucky to have found someone I can be so happy with at the moment. It’s early, it’s new. But we understand each other and he’s incredibly kind and generous.’

Her comments come after she and Yane enjoyed a romantic getaway in Bali, where they spent time in Tegallalang and Ubud – areas famous for their picturesque wedding venues.

Adding fuel to the fire, Jelena was spotted with a diamond sparkler on her ring finger at this year’s Logie Awards.

She made sure the dazzling piece was on full display as she posed on the red carpet, prompting fans to wonder whether the couple are already planning a wedding.

The speculation only intensified when Jelena teased ‘something special’ last month while trying on bridal gowns at Melbourne boutique Alin Le’ Kal.

‘Something insane coming very soon…’ she gushed in one Instagram post, alongside footage of glamorous white gowns. In another she wrote: ‘Something special in the works with Alin Le’ Kal.’

Weeks earlier, the former world No.4 was snapped cuddling up to a ‘mystery man’ at Melbourne Airport – who was later revealed to be Yane, a hospitality operations manager described in his social media bio as a ‘food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer’.

Little else is known about him, but fans are convinced Jelena has found her happy ending after years of personal struggles.

Late last year, the Nine sports presenter admitted she had been ‘closed off’ to love since splitting from Bikic, confessing in a raw Instagram post she was ‘scared of being alone for the rest of my life’.

‘Love. It’s been a challenging personal period. We don’t talk about this enough but relationship breakdowns are so tough,’ she wrote at the time.

Jelena added that she was ‘built to love one person unconditionally and so fully that it gets me in trouble’.
