Celebrating a milestone moment, Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga’s son just turned 17.
Both Hudson and Otunga marked this significant day with heartfelt messages and photos on their social media, honoring their cherished child.
Hudson shared a nostalgic throwback image of herself with David Jr., encouraging her followers to join in commemorating her son’s birthday.
She enthusiastically invited her followers, saying, “Team Jhud, can y’all help me wish DOJ a happy 17th birthday today!”
In a heartfelt tribute, Otunga expressed his pride in his son and reflected on the deep bond they share as he celebrated the remarkable young man David Jr. is becoming.
“Seventeen years ago, God blessed me with a son who would become my best friend—and gave me my greatest title: Dad,” he began.
“Happy 17th birthday, DOJ! Watching you grow into the intelligent, talented, driven, and kindhearted young man you are today has made me prouder than words can express.”
David Jr. has developed a passion for basketball, something his father highlighted while looking ahead to his son’s future.
“Watching you become a basketball star has been incredible, and I’m so excited for your next steps—on the court and in life,” Otunga wrote.
But basketball isn’t his only interest. According to his dad, the 17-year-old is also making music and spending time in the studio.
“I also love hearing the songs you make and seeing your creativity come alive. Whether you’re putting in work in the gym or creating in the studio, your talent, passion, and discipline continue to amaze me.”
Otunga also shared glimpses from the birthday celebration, which included family, a cake and plenty of love for the teenager.
“Surrounded by family and covered in love—exactly how you deserve to be celebrated,” he wrote. “Keep dreaming big, walking in faith, and becoming everything God created you to be.”
“I thank God every day that He chose me to be your father. I love you beyond words. Happy 17th, Son!” he concluded.
Hudson and Otunga welcomed David Jr. on August 10, 2009.
