Jennifer Hudson recently shared a heartfelt moment with her son, delighting fans with a glimpse into their special bond.
Over the weekend, the award-winning star took to Instagram to post some new videos featuring a studio session with her 16-year-old son, David Otunga Jr.
In the videos, the mother-son duo is seen side by side at the microphone, with David Jr. delivering a soulful rendition of “Best Part,” a 2017 hit by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R., which he counts among his favorites.
Hudson mentioned that the creative idea was all David Jr.’s. In her caption, she expressed, “The best part of singing is singing with my son. He said mama let’s record one of my fav songs together.”
However, the last part of the post truly captured social media’s attention. Hudson playfully noted that she couldn’t help but infuse the moment with her signature powerhouse vocals, adding a bit of “Jennifer Hudson style” for fun.
That move led to her son jokingly calling her out for being “too loud”.
Hudson added in her caption, “And that last slide I had to have a lil fun with him Jennifer Hudson style with the freight train!! He said now mama u can’t be doing all of that! Lol all in fun.”
Fans couldn’t get enough of the exchange, and many were blown away by David Jr.’s voice.
“I love this, this is a beautiful moment with your son plus he is singing DOWNNNN,” one follower wrote. Another added, “Crying tears. He sounds so good and in his zone!!!! I love this for him.”
A third commenter compared the final slide to the viral toddler who once told her father, “that’s too loud… do it nicely.”
David Jr. is Jennifer’s only child, whom she shares with ex fiancé David Otunga. The pair were together for nearly a decade before ending their engagement in 2017.
