Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce this year after their whirlwind reconnection and marriage. The couple’s rocky relationship dominated headlines last summer, and Lopez canceled a tour in order to spend time with her family. This year, though, Lopez is reportedly in a much better place. A source said that in the months since she finalized her divorce, Lopez has been living her best life.
Jennifer Lopez has reportedly been in high spirits since finalizing her divorce
After months of speculation, Lopez filed for divorce on Aug. 20, 2024. The couple finalized their divorce in early January of this year. Since then, Lopez embarked on a tour and has begun doing press for her upcoming film, The Kiss of the Spider Woman.
“She’s been having the time of her life this summer,” a source told People. “She loved connecting with fans all over the world. The tour was amazing. It’s been a great focus for her. She’s been doing what she really enjoys.”
Lopez filmed The Kiss of the Spider Woman while she was still married to Affleck, and she’s now in a much better place emotionally.
“This is the movie she filmed last year in New York when she and Ben were going through a difficult time,” the source said. “She’s come a long way since. She’s very happy and just grateful for her life.”
Lopez concluded her tour on Aug. 12. The Kiss of the Spider Woman comes out on Oct. 10.

While the end of Lopez and Affleck’s relationship was rocky, they are reportedly on better terms since their divorce.
“Getting things all squared away has done wonders for the state of their relationship,” a source told In Touch Weekly. “They’re both saying they are impressed in the end by how sensible and fair it all came out and that’s left them both feeling about as happy as you could get after a divorce.”
The source added that Lopez and Affleck want to remain in each other’s lives for the sake of their children.
“It’s a really hopeful sign that they managed to get through this without hating each other, because they would like to preserve their friendship,” the source said. “It’s also imperative to her that the kids continue to have a friendship as well. They’re both on the same page, which is wonderful.”
They kept their split as respectful as possible
Part of the reason they were able to remain on relatively good terms is likely that the divorce proceedings were as amicable as they could be. Lopez and Affleck did not want to drag things out.
“Ben and Jennifer were not about to nickel and dime each other, they respected each other way too much for that,” a source told In Touch Weekly. “I’m not saying that it never crossed their minds, it just wasn’t worth it. They have too much history together. They actually parted as friends.”
Following the split, Lopez said she has no plans to get married again.
