Jesse Palmer opened up about Intergenerational dating on ‘Bachelor in Paradise.’ He asked that contestants not make it “weird.”
Bachelor in Paradise returned for its 10th season just two weeks ago. While fans were anxiously awaiting its return from hiatus, the team behind the scenes was working on a way to revamp and revitalize the dating competition. One of the ways they did that was by involving some golden contestants in Bachelor in Paradise. Jesse Palmer recently opened up about the process of incorporating golden contestants with younger members of the franchise. While he said intergenerational dating wasn’t prohibited, he did ask the contestant not to make it “weird.”
Jesse Palmer addresses what he told ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ contestants about intergenerational mingling
Bachelor in Paradise returned for its 10th season after a yearlong hiatus. While the reason for the hiatus has never been completely confirmed, the team behind the series did overhaul it before returning it to the air. So far, fans largely like the changes, and the inclusion of “golden” contestants has made things a bit more interesting. Jesse Palmer, however, apparently had some reservations about golden contestants and younger contestants potentially mingling.

During a chat with TV Guide, Palmer revealed that a May-December romance was never strictly prohibited. Still, he said that contestants were encouraged to stay within their age groups so as not to “make it weird.” He told the outlet, “I encouraged them to stay in their generational lanes. And above everything, do not make it weird.” Palmer would not confirm whether any of the contestants had crossed that generational line, although we got a hint of a potential line-crossing this week. The golden contestants had just arrived.
Did they make it weird?
Jesse Palmer and the cast of Bachelor in Paradise have neither confirmed nor denied the possibility that a golden contestant and a younger contestant mingled romantically. We did, however, see Jonathan consider pursuing April to ensure he gets to stay in the game. While we won’t know how that turns out until next week, we have to admit that it did feel a bit “weird.”
Jonathan, who appeared on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, is 28. April, who appeared on season 1 of The Golden Bachelor, is 67 and has had an exciting life, including a longtime hookup with Frankie Valli. While Jonathan is floundering to find a connection, April appears to have two goldens interested in her.
Both Jonathan and April were fan favorites during their respective Bachelor Nation appearances, but Jonathan has lost some fans during his Bachelor in Paradise stint. His potential pursuit of April solely for a rose won’t win him any additional fans.
