Joao Pedro marked his Chelsea debut in spectacular fashion, scoring twice to fire the Blues into the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with a 2-0 win over Fluminense on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium.

The Brazilian forward, who joined from Brighton, netted in each half to secure Chelsea’s place in Sunday’s final, where they will face either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

His standout performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Pedro opened his account scoring in the 18th minute with a sublime curling strike from outside the box.

He completed his brace in the 56th minute, finishing powerfully off the underside of the crossbar after being teed up by Enzo Fernandez.

Fluminense best chance in the game came in the 26th minute when Hercules beat two defenders and rounded Robert Sanchez, only to have his shot cleared off the line by Marc Cucurella.

They were later denied a penalty following a VAR review that overturned a handball decision against Trevoh Chalobah.

Despite being without suspended duo Liam Delap and Levi Colwill, Chelsea controlled the match and now aim to win their second Club World Cup title, and the first in the newly expanded 32-team format.

The Blues will return to action in Sunday’s final, and would face either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
