John Legend received support from his eldest kids and mother during The Voice finale this week. Although Team Legend didn’t end up taking home the season 27 prize, Legend was able to create memorable family moments around the coach’s chair.

“We’re all voting for Renzo! @dennislorenzo! Get your vote in before 7am Eastern Tuesday morning!” The EGOT multi-hyphenated entertainer captioned a carousel of Images on Instagram.

Having his mother stop by set was a full-circle moment for Legend. The 46-year-old entertainer has been very vocal about how his mother, Phyllis, was instrumental in encouraging him to follow his dreams. “Whenever we had opportunities to sing in church or in school, my mom would suggest that I do it. She always encouraged me,” Legend told People Magazine in a 2024 interview.

In addition to celebrating the close of another season of the hit NBC television series, Legend and wife, Chrissy Teigen, were also doing some celebrating at home. Their eldest son, Miles, turned seven on May 16.

Legend shared a carousel of images of Miles on Instagram, captioning the post, “Miles Theodore is 7 today! Happy birthday to our brave, beautiful boy!!”

If you remember, almost a year ago, Miles was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. Since then, Legend and the Cravings cookbook author have been staunch advocates for Diabetes education and ensuring that Miles lives his life to the fullest and healthiest.

A few weeks ago, Teigen gave fans an update on Miles’ journey in an exclusive interview with People Magazine, stating that there are still ups and downs to navigating this new reality with her son and family.

“One day you’re like, ‘He did it!’ And you’re so excited it’s all looking up. Then all of a sudden the next day is so difficult again,” she told the outlet. “I’ve always said this about having kids in general, and it fits in with this too: When things are going so great, you can always count on it to turn. And when things are really rough, things are going to get better. Our family’s really good about navigating those curve balls now.”

In addition to Miles, the A-list couple share three other children, Luna 9, Esti, and Wren, both two-years-old. The couple also lost their son, Jack, in 2020.
