Jojo Siwa says she knew she was gay during Disney World trip

In a new interview with People magazine, Jojo Siwa opened up about how many life-changing experiences have happened at Orlando’s Walt Disney World.

“I have a lot of really fun memories here. I have a lot of really hard memories here, but I have grown a lot at Disney,” the singer shared.

“I fell in love for the first time at Disney World. I realized I was gay at Disney World. I went through stages of heartbreak at Disney World. There’s been a lot in my personal life that Disney World has really attributed to,” she added.

Siwa made the comments while visiting the Florida theme park to preview the new ride, TRON Lightcycle / Run, opening April 4 in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. But while she seemed to have a blast testing out the new attraction, she couldn’t help but reminisce about past trips.

“I was here for 14 days with a girl that was my really good friend and I realized that, ‘Oh, I like her,’” the former Dance Moms star shared. “And having all those feelings while just being in the most magical place in the world and the happiest place on Earth was so cool. We’re not together anymore, but we did have some really fun, happy memories here.”

After coming out as pansexual in 2021, Siwa has been linked to Kylie Prew and, more recently, social media star Avery Cyrus. However, based on what Siwa told People, it seems clear that she’s talking about Prew, with whom she reportedly traveled to Disney World in 2021.

Siwa could still remember the butterflies of that first love, as well as “the tension of riding every ride, sitting next to each other, walking around the park like my brother and his girlfriend because we thought it was funny. “

“But really, we both just wanted to hold hands,” the YouTuber continued. “Those memories just make my heart so happy.”

Currently, there is an ongoing feud between The Walt Disney Company and the administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over gay rights.

The tension first began after Disney openly opposed DeSantis’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill — better known as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” — which was signed into law last year and prohibits the discussion or instruction of sexual orientation or gender identity in classrooms before 4th grade.

But despite the legal setback, Disney is not staying quiet in its public support of gay rights. Just this week, the company announced it will hold a gay rights summit at Walt Disney World Resort later this year, in what the Miami Herald has called a “defiant display of the limits of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign against diversity training.” The event will be held in September 2023.
