Joy Behar has a perfectly good reason for not talking to strangers — and a recent unpleasant run-in with a man at Costco helped solidify her stance.

On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Behar joined host Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews at the Drew’s News desk, where they talked about a recent study from Harvard Business School outlining the benefits of conversing with strangers.

“Joy, do you strike up conversations with strangers?” Barrymore asked, to which Behar immediately replied, “No. They try to talk to me.”

The longtime View co-host recounted a recent trip to Costco during which someone rudely addressed her.

“I’m on line with my 10,000 rolls of toilet paper and some guy — a middle-aged man — is in the next line there and he looks at me and he [sticks his tongue out],” she recalled, describing the action as “mean.”

After Behar gave him a puzzled look, he “backed off” and said, “Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you were Joy Behar.”

The comedian didn’t confirm her true identity and instead shrugged her shoulders at the man.

“So now he’s embarrassed,” she said. “That’s why I don’t talk to people.”

Behar, for her part, faces backlash on social media every day for her disdain of President Donald Trump — so it’s no surprise that someone who was possibly a supporter of his would confront her in public.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Behar from speaking her mind. On the Jan. 16 episode of The View, she refused to name the newly-appointed POTUS — and said she already missed former president Joe Biden.

“I miss him already. I miss him. He’s a good person. You know, he spent the last 50 years caring about the country,” she said, before adding, “This other one spent 50 years scamming everybody and trying to stay out of jail. You know who I’m talking about.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
