Joy Behar left audiences at The View stunned as she shared her thoughts on the upcoming documentary about First Lady Melania Trump. The feature-length film, set to debut in early 2026, didn’t seem to win Behar’s approval.
As the segment began, Whoopi Goldberg mentioned that Amazon had spent a whopping $40 million to secure the film’s licensing rights. Behar quickly chimed in with a quip, “Oh, I thought they were going to pay me that to watch it.”
Later, Behar drew audible gasps from the audience with a bold joke involving Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress linked to former President Trump in a pre-election scandal from 2016.
As the trailer for Melania was about to play, Behar jested, “Will it feature commentary by Stormy Daniels?”
The audience reaction didn’t stop there. When Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed her discomfort about filmmaker Brett Ratner directing the documentary—recalling his 2017 sexual assault accusations from six women—Behar’s remark elicited another collective groan from the crowd.
“If he had somebody direct it who didn’t have a record in some kind of sexual assault, I would be surprised,” Behar responded, prompting the audience to react in shock. But she doubled down on the claim, adding, “I mean, it tracks.”
Griffin noted that Ratner’s allegations makes her “not want o patronize his work, even if if I am intrigued by [Melania].”
Though Griffin, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin all stated they would be streaming the film, Behar and Goldberg maintained that they had no interest in watching it at all.
“I have no interest. I’m sorry, I know that’s terrible,” Goldberg stated. “But I don’t watch much of everything. […] I don’t care. Now, if she was making policy, we could have a conversation. But I don’t care what she’s doing. God bless her.”
Haines also took a shot at President Trump as she explained why she’ll be streaming Melania when it later becomes available on Prime Video. “He burps and then he TruthSocials about it,” she joked. “We see everything about him. I don’t know as much about her and I’m actually curious.”
Melania is set to premiere in theaters Jan. 30 but is expected to stream on Prime Video later this year.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
