Justin Bieber’s mother Patti Mallette publicly prayed for her son earlier this week, and now, fans suspect there may be more behind the well wishes.

Several netizens pointed out the curious timing of the prayer – which was issued five days before Justin’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco.

‘We’re cheering you on and praying for you always Justin,’ Patti wrote on Instagram on Monday in a lengthy message.

She went on to ‘declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over’ her son and asked that God ‘heal every wound in his heart, mind, and body.’

Since it was shared in the days leading up Selena’s wedding – which is set to take place this Saturday – hoards of social media users were quick to share their theories in the comment section.

‘His mom knew his feelings to Selena since her wedding is tomorrow,’ one user posted.

‘Welp! The love of his life is getting married tomorrow,’ another wrote.

‘Nothing, it’s just a Selena’s wedding,’ someone else added.

‘It must be a new song called pray for me. He always try to sabotage Selena’s special moments,’ theorized a different person. 

‘Selena Gomez you deserve better than this man! Prayers for Selena so she can keep her sanity and stay strong safe and happy in her new life with Benny,’ read a fifth comment.

A sixth said, ‘It is so cringe of people who want Justin and Selena back ? Like seriously she’s getting married in few days and Justin already having kid with Hailey [Bieber].’ 

On Monday, Patti, 50, posted a series of black-and-white images of Justin, 31, including one which featured the singer wearing a shirt that read ‘Pray for Me.’

She wrote in the length caption, ‘We’re cheering you on and praying for you always Justin.’ 

‘Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain – be broken in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, surround him with truth, light, and protection,’ she continued.

‘Heal every wound in his heart, mind, and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in wholeness. 

‘Fill him to overflowing with tour love and comfort. Continue to raise him up as a voice for your kingdom, unshaken and on fire for you lord.

The Grammy-winning musician has been open about his struggles with fame, mental health, and physical illness in recent years, including being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome in 2022, which caused partial facial paralysis. 

Selena, 33, and Benny, 37, will tie the knot on a large private property that will be tented and protected by hefty security at a cost of a reported $300,000 to ensure the safety and privacy of the 300-strong guest list – of whom many are A-listers. 

Anticipated guests at the California ceremony include Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, and her famed Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short. 

Justin and Selena first started dating in 2010, and were on and off for years until March 2018, when they split for good.

He went on to marry Hailey in September 2018, and together, they welcomed their son Jack Blues in August 2024.

Rumors of a feud between Selena and Hailey have been swirling for years, despite both women making attempts to quash the narrative with statements on social media and in the press on numerous occasions.
