For Kate Middleton, one royal jewel continues to stand above the rest.
The Princess of Wales chose her signature accessory—the iconic Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara—for the Oct. 20 state banquet hosted for Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, which she attended with her husband, Prince William.
The dazzling tiara, designed with 19 arches and 28 drop-shaped pearls, complemented Kate’s flowing yellow Elie Saab gown. The dress featured a braided collar, keyhole cutout and chiffon cape. She finished the regal ensemble with earrings and a diamond bracelet formerly owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, along with the Royal Family Order sash and Royal Victorian Order star.

The appearance marked the 16th time Kate has worn the Lover’s Knot since marrying William in 2011, making it her most frequently worn tiara from the royal collection.
Created in 1913, the tiara was made for Queen Mary as a replica of a jewel owned by Princess Augusta of Hesse-Kassel. Augusta became the Duchess of Cambridge in 1818—a title Kate holds today as well.
